“Oh, It’s the happiest time of the year!”
December is by far my favorite month. You can nearly smell the cheer in the air. Everyone is happy, thoughtful, loving, and all the lights are beautiful. It is definitely our busiest month! We jam pack every weekend with as many activities as possible. We always start out our December with a trip to see the Dancing Lights of Christmas. We Love to get in the first month of December before the crowds hit. This way we only have a 10-20 minute wait to see the breath taking lights vs 1-2 hours later in the month. If you purchase your tickets the night of at the window they are $25. We always purchase ours in advance from the Ronald McDonald house and get them for just $15. Not only does it support a great cause, but it saves us money!
After our weekend of lights we always love to do something special for the girls. This year, we chose to do a gingerbread house decorating party for the girls and all of their little friends. I love putting together these events for them. I feel like they will be wonderful memories of their childhood they can look back on. We started when C was just 2 years old with her first cookie decorating party and one friend. Now we get bigger and bigger every year. I love the mess, the chaos, and all of the excitement these little parties produce. The look on the girls face, and the smiles that run ear to ear make all of the hours of prep worth it.
Our last weekend before Christmas we chose to make extra special. C is 8 now and is starting to really question Santa and all of the make believe magic that goes into Christmas. I want to prolong the innocence of her childhood and have Santa in her world as long as I can. We chose to take the girls on a train ride to the North Pole to meet Santa, Mrs. Clause and all of the toy elves. We made the trip to Chattanooga, TN to The North Pole Limited. Let me tell you, the girls absolutely loved it! KB was absorbed in every aspect. She had the Christmas twinkle in her eye and completely dove in to every part of the day. Every time a new character appeared she was completely fascinated with them. C was a little harder to convince. Thankfully, the actors and actresses were 100% prepared for this. They threw out facts at her and showed her all of the little details of the trip that would only make sense if we were in fact on the real Polar Express. We left with two ecstatic and complete believers. Although it was expensive, it was worth every single penny. We were able to find a discount through Charles’ work which saved us about 15% off of our ticket prices. Gotta love Nissan perks!
Listening- I’m a sucker for Christmas music. I love all of the classics and introducing the girls to the playful songs. “I want a hippopotamus” is my absolute favorite. I drive the girls insane with my upbeat and loud singing of Christmas songs all day in the house. Whenever we are in the car I have my Pandora on my “Children’s Christmas Songs” channel. We rock out to all of the classics!
Eating- My grandmother makes the absolute best chex mix on this planet. I have her recipe and have copied it step by step. It never turns out as great as hers is. It is definitely baked with love. This year for Christmas, I told her all I wanted was some of her chex mix. I was so surprised when she showed up to my house with two giant bowls all for me. So, I have been snacking on that way more than I should have.
Drinking- Because of my bipolar, it is very few and far between that I drink alcohol. To counteract all of the chex mix and sweets I am eating this month, I am pushing as much water as possible. Hey, it’s better than nothing, right?
Wearing- I am rocking my Christmas leggings! I had a turkey pair for Thanksgiving. Now, I have multiple Christmas pairs. C gets so embarrassed by my legging choices. She especially hates when I wear them to her school activities. But hey, That’s what moms are for, right? Plus, they were 2 pair for only $12.00 at Walmart. You can’t beat that!
Feeling- This title can be a little touchy for me. Bipolar means I have extreme ups and extreme crashes. Thankfully, I really have my medicine balanced now. Plus, December it’s self puts me in the best of moods.
Weather- The weather this month has been amazing. It has been as high as the 70’s some days, and I don’t think we have gotten below freezing. I’m just waiting for that to come next month. January weather is always the worst!
Wanting- As much family time as possible. I love all of the holiday celebrations from Christmas. I can’t get enough of it.
Needing- A pedicure in the worst way possible! lol
Enjoying- all of the Christmas festivities with friends and family!
So that’s my December in a nutshell. I can’t wait to see what all January and the new year has to bring for me and my family!
